Electrician schools conduct courses or programs to teach students how to install and maintain all types of electrical systems. Most programs are practical experiences that impart the basic knowledge of electricity to students.

Eucation Subjects taught under this programme include classification of electricity, fitting conduits, electrical installation, heating, lighting, and properties of conductors. The students are generally sent to work under an experienced electrician as some sort of internship or apprenticeship. The majority of electricians find jobs in the construction industry yet, about 30% of all electricians work in other areas of industry like electronics but not plumber though. During the electrician employment  career you may be involved in all aspects of the wiring of homes, office buildings, hospitals, educational institutions and more. Work for an electrician does not involve only electrical wiring, as an electrician may also install fire and smoke alarms, burglar alarms, telephone systems, computer wiring and more. Job prospects for those pursuing an electrician career continue to be in high demand as the construction industry continues to grow and a number of electricians are reaching retirement age.

At Electrician school the students are taught how to install circuits and conductors and how to install and maintain wiring systems. They become familiar with the National Electrical Code and learn to apply the code to their day-to-day work. The training focuses on blueprint reading, mathematics, power systems, safety, circuit analysis, and cabling. Many programs are business-oriented and also cover subjects like small business ownership for those students wishing to start their own.

There are online electrician schools as well. They also offer similar courses. You can do it at your pace. However, for on the job training you may have to find a suitable place in your home city. There are several such trade schools online and you may be able to see their individual requirements and fee structure if you get to one of the web sites.

Full time electrician and electrical schools are available in all the States even online. In most states there is more than one. Most of these engineering schools List are known as community schools or colleges so check the Yellow Pages for Services. Those who choose a career as an electrician should be in good physical condition. I would call them able bodied. They should be healthy and able to lift moderate loads by them selves. They should have excellent agility and manual dexterity. Because electricians are often required to distinguish between wires of various colours, they need to have excellent colour vision. If you do not fit this bill, do not attempt it you will never be approved.
