How to become an electrician

If you are able bodied and want to work with your hands and wouldn’t mind the hands getting a bit dirty and want to earn good money for your labour then you should consider becoming an electrician. Then the next question is how to become an electrician which is not too difficult to answer.



How to become an electrician

First of all, if you want to become an electrician or for that matter any other vocation you like to take, you must be persevering. Unless you are persevering you will not go up the ladder as and electrician electrical training or in any other vocation.

The vocation as an electrician is very interesting and you will never be bored greatly since fiber optics are huge. First of all, you must start as an apprentice electrician under a licensed Electrician. In most States in the US an apprentice Electrician needs to put in a stipulated number of hours before he can apply to sit the first examination. If you have difficulties in finding a licensed electrician who would accept you as an apprentice and would pay you some reasonable allowance during your apprenticeship you should enrol yourself to an apprentice programme. There are also, some industrial organisations that will be glad to accept you as an apprentice under their Master electrician. This will be ideal as you may even find employment in that industry once you are qualified. 

If you are still at school, it would be wise to complete your high school with particularly concentrating in the school careers Mathematics education as it will hold in good stead for your future as an electrician.

While working as an apprentice electrician you will need to attend classes to learn the theory and other State laws relating to electrical installations and wiring. You will also need to refer books on connected subjects. These are not too difficult to find. Books needed for an electrician’s examination can be found even on the internet. If you are computer literate then there are CDs which can be useful in learning the theory required to pass an electrician’s examination.  You don't have to win a Nobel Peace Prize or anything though.

An Apprentice Electrician’s course is a 4 year programme and can probably be taken online. While working at an industry the apprentice has to attend classes as well remember this is for electricity lighting. The period of time spent in a class room will be about 10 weeks per year. During the 4 years period, it will be 40 weeks in a class room for theoretical work and the balance 168 weeks will be on the job training in an industry.  On completing this training you will be entitled to sit for the examination and on success will be awarded the certificate as an Electrician. Now you can go find a job search in the London uk or Walesa places like that.
